I have been playing a druid (frizbog) for nearly a year. He’s my first and main character, and he’s all level 70 and stuff. I’ve been doing a lot of PvP since I got to level 70, and I completed my Field Marshal’s Sanctuary 6-piece Epic PVP set last week.
So, last week I started a warlock in WoW last week around Thankgiving.
I actually started several new toons, but dumped them pretty quickly. Many moons ago I had a Dranei shaman that I leveled to 35 (for tailoring and enchanting), and a human warrior (that I got also up to level 35), so I didn’t want to do them again. Also, on July 4 someone hacked into my WoW account and deleted all my toons and sold all my gear. During the 2 months it took Blizzard to restore me, I started a new Blood Elf mage on another server, and got her up to about level 32.
So, first I tried a rogue. It was so much like my druid’s cat form I deleted him at level 10. I tried a paladin too (my friend Jeff has a level 70 pally). I suppose it gets more interesting later, but I found it almost as boring as the human warrior (run up and bash, drink, run up and bash, drink). While playing my druid, I’m constantly mashing keys and doing stuff during battles, so I found the pally just plain dull. Deleted at level 10.
So I tried a gnome warlock, and it’s pretty cool. I like how it’s more nuanced than the other classes I’ve tried. I like balancing the minion’s fighting against my own — managing the mana and health of two characters is more interesting than managing one characters. I’m seeing small bits of new content too, which is cool. There was never a reason for my druid to go into The Slaughtered Lamb in Stormwind, etc.
One of the other parts I really am enjoying (especially with my voidwalker) is taking on multiple mobs at a time. Druids don’t do this very well — but with my lock I can sic my minion on a mob, curse and dot him up, then move on to the next mob while the minion takes the last one down. Once he’s down, he starts working on my second mob and I’m starting on a third. It will be nice when I can drain life - - I’ll be able to life tap to keep my mana up, then drain life to get my health back. Grinding will be a whole new experience.
